Tantric Massage
Therapeutic (Tantric) massage in any form should be a healing of the body, mind and soul. If practised with skill and awareness, tantric massage can bring about transformation in the emotional, energetic and spiritual body, as well as the physical body.
Tantric massage is, literally a full-body experience, which focuses on aspects of the person that perhaps a regular massage doesn’t give time or energy to. An example of one area that a tantric massage gives a lot of attention to is the balancing of the chakras. These are seven energy vortexes that lie in and around the body which are considered in Tantra to have a major influence on the well-being of a person. It is considered that if the chakras are balanced, aligned and vibrant then not only can a person’s health be restored to a balanced state, but their sexual energy will begin to flow naturally.
Music is an essential part of tantic massage. Read the article on the use of Music in Massage.
Another intention of tantric massage is to bring awareness to obstacles that might be inhibiting the self-expression of a client. These obstacles may be in the form of wounds created long ago, that have lodged themselves in the body, causing the person to be living life on a half-empty tank, albeit unconsciously. The healing of these wounds can liberate a person to such an extent that their energy levels rise. Passion is heightened, sensitivity is more acute, enthusiasm for life is re-awakened. Interestingly in Tantra, any journey which ventures into painful areas and difficult issues is always balanced with a profound experience of pleasure. In a state of surrender and let-go, one can heal most presenting problems with ease. This is the aim of the tantric masseur – to guide the client into a relaxed state where they can experience the joy of being in the moment.
